Apple Pie Proats
It all began with an idea. An idea that I needed to pack as much protein and fibre into my breakfast as possible so that I was starting my day off in the way I wanted it to continue. And apple pie proats was the outcome of that.
This breakfast, as I make it, packs 19g of fibre, and 33g of protein. One of the reasons this is so high in fibre is because I add a scoop of “Daily cleanse” to it. This is a product that you can purchase at your local health food store. It contains flax seed, psyllium husk, quinoa, chia, pumpkin, and sprouted brown rice. It is not at all necessary to add this to the oats, but be mindful that the fibre content won’t be as high without it. I am not affiliated with this product in any way. I am just a big fan of it as it has definitely been really helpful for me personally.
Oatmeal serves as a great opportunity to sneak in some extra protein. You can add any flavour of protein powder to your oats. With this recipe, my preference is vanilla, but you can try out any flavour that you think you would enjoy. It adds the sweetness to the oats so you don’t need any additional sugars or sweeteners.
If you wanted to make this extra creamy, you could also add a spoonful of greek yogurt. If you do, adjust the macros accordingly.
